Description: The Vietnam Courier, weekly newspaper published in Hanoi. Up to March 28, 1968. A quite rare, communist propaganda newspaper whose purpose was to rid Vietnam of the"American imperialists". Since Vietnam is not an English-speaking country the newspaper clearly was intended for foreign distribution. Therefore it did not necessarily contain the exact messages to which the North Vietnamese were exposed. It did however, contain messages that the government of North Vietnam wanted foreign audiences to consider. As an instrument of the North Vietnam government the Courier messages constituted an official view of the war by the Hanoi regime.
