    Description

FAYETTE COUNTY, TEXAS and Southwest Texas History - Goodspeed Publication - 98 pages - soft cover - full name index - reprinted 2016.
Fayette County, located in the southwestern side of Texas at the time these records were written, was created on 14 December 1837 from the lands given up by Bastrop and Colorado counties and named for the Marquis de la Fayette.  LaFayette came to the American aide during the Revolutionary War.  This volume contains but a short history of the Southwest Texas area with separate index and the biographical sketches that appear in Goodspeed’s publication.

    Example from this volume:
“JAMES H. MOORE - Few families in Texas have a higher standing for character, and enterprise than the one represented by the name a the head of this paragraph and in its various members it is eminently worthy of the respect which is universally conceded to it.  James H. Moore, who was one of the first settlers of the village of Thomaston, Texas, came originally from Mississippi, his birth occurring in Monroe, now Lamar County in 1844.”
