The West Virginia
Agricultural Extension Division, in October 1921, developed a
county community score card, listing specific standards or goals under nine headings--history,
government, business, farm, clubs, homes, schools, churches and health--these histories are a result.
About one hundred community histories were published by the West Virginia University
Agricultural Extension Division in Morgantown, in the 1920s and 30s. The
fifty-eight
histories known to exist
are at the West Virginia State Archives library, and are included
in this document with an addition seven communities.
The total 65 communities included in this document are located in
23 counties
.
Added to
the original publication of community histories are county histories for the 23 counties,
plus histories for an additional 24 counties.
