Description
Here is an ORIGINAL pinback from the New York City restaurant-- Bellybutton. This is a nice LARGE size pin---- it measures approx 4 inches in diameter.
This establishment was located at 68 Greenwich Avenue in the late 1960s/early 1970s.... it closed around 1973.
They were known for their cleverly-named tasty dishes like-- "Guacamole Bellyburger" and "Nudeburger"
This pinback features the names of these delicacies--- along with the restaurant name and address.
The red printing against yellow background makes the pin look especially attractive and is typical of the colors and designs of that time period.
Bellyburger often advertised in New York Magazine and was also reviewed in one of the issues around 1970.
Elephant & Castle restaurant is situated today at that very same location in Greenwich Village.
This button is NOT a reproduction---- it is an ORIGINAL piece from when the eatery was opened approx. 50 years ago.
Mostly likely--- this was actually used by the Bellybutton restaurant staff and was not given away to customers.
The pin is in nice condition with very slight wear. The clasp works well... there is NO dirt, there are NO scratches, etc. The images is bright and sharp--- the colors are vibrant. And again--- because it's a vintage button... it is made of heavy-duty metal (not the flimsy modern-day type of button)
This is the ONLY pin of this type that I ever seen.
Grab it while you can.... it's unlikely you'll find this again.
