Inside cover says "Stanford Family Records and Allied Families including Long, Bissey, Bayler, Hickenbottom, Elliott, and others".  It also states "Home of Seven Thousand Names and over 100 pictures".
"Compiled, edited and published by Earnest D. Elliott 1964 and Elsie E. Smith 1985".  See picture.
Probably the first Stanford "name to appear in the American records are Richard and John Stanford who came to Virginia about 1635 from England.  There were about two dozen Stanfords who fought in the war of the revolution (1775 to 1783) living in five states."
Note:  This history is up to date until 1985.
The rear of the book has 41 pages of family names found in the history included in this book and correlating pages.
