Great Aunt Mary's Lace Courting Fan designed and taught by Mary Lou Helgesen, vintage class project, started kitI estimate the fan itself is about 60% completed plus the background.

Finished design size 9"h x 14-1/2"w
as framed piece.
Canvas measures 14" x 20" on stretcher bars.
This is a started kit from a class. It is undated but based on the non-computer technology used to create the directions, I estimate it is from the 70s or 80s.
Stitches include round eyelets, half round eyelets (most of these are done), couched ribbon covered with cross stitches (these are done), continental or basketweave (tent) for the cherubs and straight stitches for the wings (this is done), Dillon/rice/boxed rice for the flowers (some of this done), French knots and straight stitches for the leaves, encroaching Gobelin (background),ultrasuede base guard of fan is appliquéd on and embellished with queen stitches and rice stitches (this is done) and backstitches for the outline (some are overcast - most of these are done).
