    Description

THE SITE of OLD "JAMES TOWNE" 1607-1698
    by Samuel H. Yonge
Samuel H. Yonge was a famous Virginian as a civil engineer who among his accomplishments  built the revetment seawall that preserved the ruins of Jamestown for later excavation. In his work he encounter many ruins and mapped these creating a sense of the settlement's layout. There is a Virginia Historical marker touting his contributions to the State.
This book has been reprinted over the years by the APVA at least 5 times. Yonge signed this 1904 first edition by inscribing it to Henry S. Hutzler, another notable Virginian, who established the Hebrew Home for the Aged, in Richmond. They both served on the Jamestown Advisory Committee together. Hutzler signed the front end sheet and dated it November 1904.
This is worthy of a true bibliophile's shelf. Excellent condition.
