    This book "endeavors to evaluate the part played by the women of south in the inauguration of the Confederate War; their share in sustaining the Confederate armies and in keeping alive the economic life of a war torn and blockaded country" and much more. Simkins was a long time history professor at the State Teachers College, now Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. A first edition (1936) from Garrett and Massie of Richmond, Virginia. Inscribed, signed and dated by Simkins in 1937.
