Description
USAF HC-130 Pilots Lot. This historical lot comes from a deceased veterans old house. LTC Havlinek was a command level pilot that had a distinguished career. He left behind no family info & the box was destined for the trash before I rescued it.This lot dates to the Vietnam era. The 76th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron was a dedicated air/sea/land rescue squadron assigned to Tactical Air Command. The HC-130 was a dedicated search & rescue platform used worldwide including the SEA theater (Vietnam).
These brave men would go out in the worst WX conditions imaginable anywhere in the world to rescue airmen & sailors in peril.
The aircrew also had early USAF Pararescue airmen assigned to the crew as well. They would jump from the HC-130 to the crash/rescue area. The HC-130 also carried survival pallets with medical supplies, life rafts, food/water, etc to drop to the survivors.
We have 2 pilots knee boards with assorted fuel/weight balance sheets filled out by the veteran. The snakebite kit is Korean military issue along with 3 flight caps, 1 fatigue cap, and assorted items & badges.
The Flight Checklist belongs in a museum; in fact the whole lot does. This information covers flight patterns, paramedical info to dropping a MA-1/2 survival kit. The pen flare guns plus 20 shells will stay with me however!
Being an USAF veteran myself I am very familiar with the items listed here. I can confidently characterize this historic group as “One in A Kind”!
Hell I dusted them off myself!
